2016-17 School Year calendar
The Board of Education approved the following calendar on December 16, 2015:
2017-2018 School Year Calendar
The Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) 2017-2018 Calendar Committee presented calendar recommendations to the Board of Education on November 2, 2016 meeting. Their draft academic calendar aligns with Governor Hogan’s Executive Order to start school after Labor Day and end by June 15. The Committee also developed (for the purposes of discussion and comparison) a calendar that shows what a pre-Labor Day start date might look like.
As the Calendar Committee did its work, it considered how to best support instruction within parameters defined by negotiated agreements, district policies, state laws and State Board of Education regulations. The academic calendar must include 180 student days and 190 teacher days. The 2017-2018 Calendar Committee includes representation from a broad array of parents, teachers, administrators, a student a business representative and others. The Board of Education is scheduled to determine the 2017-2018 academic calendar at its December 14, 2016 meeting.
