FCPS Celebrates Special Education Award Winners

The Frederick County Public Schools’ Department of Special Education and Psychological Services hosted a celebration on May 15, honoring employees and others with outstanding achievement awards for dedication supporting students with disabilities. 

Melanie Clark at Brunswick Elementary and Allison Reed at Brunswick Middle received Outstanding Special Educator awards.

Leroy Cosner at Spring Ridge Elementary, Brady Ridenour at New Market Middle and Jennifer Ancruem at Tuscarora High received Outstanding Special Education Instructional Assistant awards.

Jennifer Nichols, who works at Urbana High and the Frederick Classical Charter School, received the Outstanding Speech-Language Pathologist award.

Brunswick Elementary Assistant Principal Heather Putnam was named Outstanding Special Education Administrator.

Stefanie Newman was named Outstanding School Psychologist.

Camille Kime was recognized with a Friend of Special Education award. 

Therapist Karen Twietmeyer received this year’s Outstanding Related Service Provider award.

The Civitan Club of Frederick, COSTCO, Famous Dave’s, Food Lion, Giant Food, McCutcheon’s, Uncle Ralph’s Cookies, Wegmans and several anonymous givers donated refreshments. The Civitan Club also generously donated the awards that honorees received.
