FCPS Announces Additional Personnel Changes

Frederick County Public Schools announces several principal and assistant principal appointments, effective immediately.

The following individuals will serve in principal positions:

At Tuscarora High School, Mr. Christopher Berry will serve as principal. Mr. Berry received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and Public Policy, History, in 1986 from Bethany College and a Master of Science degree in Education Administration and Supervision in 2004 from Johns Hopkins University. He began his career in 1986 as a social studies teacher at Colonel Zadok Magruder High School where he taught until 1998. Beginning in 1992, Mr. Berry served as a social studies resource teacher at Blake and Magruder High Schools. In 2000, he became the Arts and Humanities coordinator at James Hubert Blake High School in Montgomery County. He was promoted to assistant principal of James Hubert Blake High School in 2004, and in 2010 was promoted to serve as the school’s principal where he has remained, to date.

At Governor Thomas Johnson Middle School, Ms. Margaret Gilgallon will serve as principal. Ms. Gilgallon received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Mount Saint Mary’s University in 1997 and a Master of Science degree in Secondary Educational Leadership from Hood College in 2004. Ms. Gilgallon began her career with Frederick County Public Schools as a language arts teacher at West Frederick Middle School where she taught from 1997 to 2007. She was promoted to assistant principal of Brunswick Middle School in 2007, serving until 2012 when she was transferred to Walkersville Middle School (WMS). Ms. Gilgallon remained at WMS until 2015 when she transferred to Middletown Middle School (MMS). From 2015 to 2017, she served as assistant principal at MMS and most recently transferred to Thurmont Middle School.

At Crestwood Middle School, Mr. Neal Case will serve as principal. Mr. Case began his career with FCPS in 2003 as an assistant principal at Oakdale Middle School. He became the principal of Oakdale Middle School in 2004 and was there for six years until he moved to Governor Thomas Johnson Middle School in 2010.

The following individuals will serve in assistant principal positions:

  • Ms. Tricia Brdecka at Ballenger Creek Middle School from a history teacher specialist position in Norfolk Public Schools.
  • Mr. Andrew Kibler at Brunswick Middle School from principal at Tuscarora High.
  • Ms. Anita Shank at Thurmont Middle School from assistant principal at Brunswick Middle School.
