In honor of Apprenticeship Month, Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) will host a recognition ceremony for Frederick County business partners who have made the Maryland Youth Apprenticeship pilot program a success in Frederick County. The ceremony be held on Thursday, November 16 from 12:30-1 p.m. in the FCPS Board of Education room.
Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) Secretary Kelly Schulz and FCPS Superintendent Dr. Theresa Alban look forward to recognizing business leaders who support the program by registering with the DLLR and providing a mentor for student employees to receive 450 hours of on-the-job training.
Youth Apprenticeship Maryland provides high school seniors with academic and occupational skills leading to a high school diploma and a State Skills Certificate. The program is a partnership between the Maryland DLLR, the Maryland State Department of Education, the Department of Commerce, Frederick County Public Schools, community educational and business partners, and area employers.
