What is an IEP Team Meeting?

image An "IEP Team Meeting" is a prearranged meeting when school staff members, a parent, and others who have knowledge or special expertise regarding the child come together at the same time and place to discuss matters related to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, and the provision of a Free, Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) for a student with a disability. The meeting may be called at the discretion of either the parent or school. If the school schedules the IEP Team Meeting, parents are entitled to a ten-calendar day notice prior to the meeting. Every effort should be made to set up a time mutually agreeable to both the parent(s) and the school.
