Bus Facility Feasibility Study

Project Scope Phase (Phase 1)
The major goals of the first phase of the Feasibility Study were to document the existing conditions and operational structure of the Transportation Department and define the scope of its bus facility space needs. The team used a variety of techniques to investigate the department’s needs, including a tour of the existing facilities, interviews with bus mechanics, surveys of bus drivers and their aides, and visits to other nearby agency facilities. The group  also analyzed transportation department records to identify and quantify bus facility activities. Phase 1 of the project resulted in a report outlining the need for a bus facility and its desired characteristics. The Phase 1 report details the specific spaces that will be needed to accommodate FCPS’ bus program.

The team has completed the Phase 1 report (Adobe PDF File, opens in new window) and presented the findings at the July 13 Board of Education afternoon work session.
