The Board of Education of Frederick County (BOE) seeks feedback at a public hearing Wednesday, February 7 on next year’s school system operating budget, fiscal year 2019.The hearing will take place 7 p.m. at Frederick High School. Feedback is also welcome via email to ThePromise@fcps.org.
At this point in the budget process, Superintendent Terry Alban has released her recommended budget, posted at www.fcps.org/budget and presented to the BOE on January 10. If the BOE makes changes prior to its February 7 public hearing, the school system will post updates at the same site. The BOE is scheduled to approve the budget on Wednesday, February 14. At that time, Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) will post the BOE’s proposed budget online for public review. The budget calendar timeline is also online.
As in past years, FCPS has made a concerted effort to engage the public in the budget process. Opportunities have included a November Twitter chat and budget lunch and learn event, a December 6 Community Budget Forum that included a live interactive YouTube broadcast, the January 4 public release of the Superintendent’s Recommended Budget, and numerous BOE work session and discussions, all open to the public.
