The Maryland State Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented Education and the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) annually recognize outstanding contributions to gifted and talented education. Frederick County Public Schools once again made a strong showing among those recognized, with nine winners this year.
The following primary talent development teachers earned the Outstanding Educator/Teacher Leader Award: Michelle Keegin, Brenda Kurtianyk, Lisa Long, Erin Miller, Kristin Ratkowski, Barbara Rudakevych and Angela Thomas. Also earning this award were Hillcrest Elementary Advanced Academics Specialist Patrick Lucas and Highly Able Learner Program Teacher Specialist Kent Wetzel.
Student Homelessness Initiative Partnership of Frederick County (SHIP) Co-Founder and Executive Director Ed Hinde was named Outstanding Community Partner.
