The May 4 registration deadline is fast approaching for the two foreign-language camps Frederick County Public Schools will provide this summer.
We Are the World summer camp offers great exposure to world languages and cultures for FCPS students entering grades 2 or 3 in the fall. It provides opportunities for children to learn basic conversational phrases, numbers, colors and food names in Arabic, French, German, Latin, Russian and Spanish. Camp is 8:30 a.m. until noon, covering seven days in a 2-week period from Monday-Thursday, July 9-12 and Monday-Wednesday, July 16-18, at Crestwood Middle School, 7100 Foxcroft Drive, Frederick. The cost is $40.
Spanish Immersion camp offers music, games, crafts and outdoor activities in which Spanish is spoken for three sessions per day along with a daily lesson in Latin derivatives and etymology for FCPS students entering grades 4 or 5 in the fall. Camp is 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., covering eight days in a 2-week period from Mondays-Thursdays, July 9-12 and 16-19, also at Crestwood Middle. The cost is $150 and includes lunch.
