Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) invites parents of eighth grade students to this year’s Life after Middle School: Planning for the Future event, Thursday, November 1, 7-9 p.m. at the Frederick Community College (FCC) Jack B. Kussmaul Theater.
The program will include important information about high school planning and opportunities, high school graduation requirements, career and technology education options, linking high school and college courses, post-high school opportunities and college savings plans. This event is free and also includes valuable resource materials for parents.
On the agenda are FCC President Dr. Elizabeth Burmaster and FCPS Executive Director of School Administration and Leadership Tracey Lucas. Other presenters from FCPS are Coordinator for Dual Enrollment Diana Sung, Career and Technology Education Teacher Specialist Korbin Shoemaker, Career and Technology Center Math Specialist Lorraine Marshall, Virtual School Principal Dr. Stacey Adamiak, Coordinator of Counseling and Student Support Janet Shipman, Linganore High School Counselor Paula Larson, and Thurmont Middle School Counselor Sherry Bueso. Rounding out the program are FCC Admissions Director Lisa Freel and Hood College Admissions Director Nikki Bamonti.
In addition, representatives from the college savings plans, the FCPS Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) program, the military, and Hood College will staff booths in the lobby.
