Academy for the Fine Arts Seeks Internships for Seniors

The Frederick County Public Schools Academy for the Fine Arts (AFA) seeks spring and summer internship opportunities for senior students in their third and final year of studies. The students are required to complete a capstone experience, which can take the form of a project or an internship. They have spent their time studying the areas of dance, music, theatre, or visual art. Internships are typically unpaid, and the schedule may be flexible.

The internship’s purpose is to provide real-world experience in preparation for post-secondary endeavors, connect classroom teaching to authentic arts-based careers, build leadership, collaborative and reflective skills, and provide students a network of working professionals and community partners. A full description of the capstone experience is online at https://drive.google.com/open?id=1gvns08RqdDKkiCvY0VRQ7CILHESIpG1E

Internships should provide at least three hours of work for students per week. Openings may be forwarded to Academy for the Fine Arts Coordinator Jonathan Kurtz at jonathan.kurtz@fcps.org. Please include your name, contact information, internship timeline and a brief description. For more information: www.fcpsartsacademy.org or 240-236-8352.
