A Message from Superintendent Dr. Terry Alban

Recent incidents of violence in our community are concerning. I want to remind our students of the Frederick County Public Schools’ philosophy regarding our educational environment. In accordance with FCPS philosophy, all schools will have a safe, positive, healthy, and inviting environment: one that fosters respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and good citizenship.

It is the responsibility of everyone associated with the school—staff, students, parents, and members of the community—to teach, promote and model self-discipline in order to preserve the quality of our educational environment. In order to maintain a positive, safe and inviting school climate, where learning and citizenship will occur, all individuals will be expected to exemplify this philosophy.

All of us have a responsibility to treat one another with courtesy and respect. School personnel—teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff are available to support students in reaching a peaceful resolution to their problems.

We are looking forward to another successful school year for all FCPS students, and we are committed to working together with our community to ensure a safe and inviting school environment.
