FCPS Seeks Feedback on FY21 Budget Priorities

Frederick County Public Schools seeks feedback at a Community Budget Forum, Wednesday, December 4 on next year’s school system operating budget, fiscal year (FY) 2021. Community feedback allows FCPS to make the best decisions for supporting Frederick County’s most valuable assets (our children).

The forum will take place from 7 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the Central Office Board Room, 191 S. East Street, Frederick. In the event of inclement weather, the snow date is Wednesday, December 18, same times.

At this point in the budget process, Superintendent Dr. Terry Alban is continuing to gather feedback to prepare her recommended FY21 budget, which she will share with the public on Monday, January 6. The Superintendent and her budget staff are slated to present her recommended budget in detail to the Board of Education on Wednesday, January 8.

The BOE will hold several work sessions and discussions regarding the budget and plans a public hearing for Wednesday, February 5. The Board is scheduled to approve the budget on Wednesday, February 12, and forward it to the County. The Board will hold additional budget discussions as needed throughout April and May, with final budget approval to take place on June 10 and take effect July 1, 2020.
