The official last school day this year for students who attend Frederick County public schools is Friday, June 9. On that day, FCPS will dismiss students 2 hours early for a teacher work session. This schedule assumes that FCPS will need no further days off for inclement weather or other systemwide emergencies. The school system has used only one of the six snow days built into this year’s calendar.
The last day for 10-month teachers and staff is Monday, June 12.
Throughout most of the summer, FCPS schools and offices will operate on a four-day workweek with extended hours Mondays through Thursdays, closed on Fridays. Hours for the Central Office will be 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. during the four-day summer workweeks. This schedule will take effect the week of June 12. There is an exception the week of Independence Day; Tuesday, July 4 is a holiday, and schools and offices will be open regular hours Monday and Wednesday through Friday that week.
The regular five-day FCPS workweek will resume starting Monday, August 28. The first school day for students is Tuesday, September 5, 2017.
