After eight weeks of exciting regular season matchups, the FCPS Academic Tournament will crown its 2026 champion later today, Friday, February 27, at Frederick High School.
The 45th Academic Tournament final begins at 5 p.m. The seeding for the finals was determined by the regular season competitions, each of which featured a special topic. On Friday, psychology is the special topic. Every FCPS high school is represented.
Tournament playoffs lookahead
Catoctin High and Tuscarora High will face off in a 20-question quarterfinal to begin the evening. The winner of that matchup will advance to the semifinals.
Semifinal Matchups
Semifinal 1: No.3 seed Oakdale, No. 4 seed Walkersville, Catoctin-Tuscarora winner
Semifinal 2: No. 2 seed Urbana, No. 5 seed Frederick, No. 8 seed Middletown
Semifinal 3: No. 1 seed Brunswick, No. 6 seed Linganore, No. 7 seed Gov. Thomas Johnson High
The winners of each semifinal will face off in the championship match.
