The 44th annual FCPS Academic Tournament – an annual competition of knowledge and wits – will begin January 9.
All matches will take place at Frederick High School, with most sessions beginning at 6 p.m. Every FCPS high school is represented this year. Teams will compete weekly against two or three other high schools. Just as in past years, each week will feature a special topic:
- January 9: Endangered Species
- January 16: 2000s Pop Music
- January 23: Maryland Geography
- January 26 (special start time of 5 p.m.): Monsters in Media
- January 30: Fairytales and Fables
- February 6: Winter Olympics
- February 13: Ancient Egypt
- February 20: Broadway Musicals
- February 27 (special start time of 5 p.m.): Psychology
The championship will be held February 27 at Frederick High School.
Last year, Urbana won the FCPS Academic Tournament while Catoctin took top regular season honors.
