
Frederick County Public Schools celebrated the openings of the new Green Valley and Valley Elementary schools with ceremonial ribbon cuttings Wednesday, October 1.
The ceremonies featured tours guided by students and were attended by state, local and system leaders.
“I am appreciative of the partnership we have with state and local officials to help ensure building projects like these get completed,” FCPS Superintendent Dr. Cheryl L. Dyson said. “Our students deserve the best possible spaces to learn and grow.”
The new Green Valley Elementary replaced a building that originally opened in 1971. The school is located in the Landsdale community off Landsdale Parkway, a few miles away from the previous location. The new building has a state-rated capacity of 725 students.
The new Valley Elementary replaces a building that originally opened for students in 1967. The school is adjacent to the previous Valley building. The new Valley has a state-rated capacity of 745 students.
