Maryland Gov. Wes Moore announced the updated Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools Program to recognize exemplary schools on Tuesday, September 30. Following the announcement, Myersville Elementary students and staff celebrated their Maryland Blue Ribbon School designation at an assembly.

“I am thrilled for the Myersville Elementary community earning this prestigious designation,” FCPS Superintendent Dr. Cheryl L. Dyson said. “This is a significant achievement, one every student and staff member can be so proud of.”

The updated Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools Program is operating collaboratively with the Maryland State Department of Education, Archdiocese of Baltimore, and Archdiocese of Washington.

Schools are considered for Blue Ribbon distinction based on student performance on national and state assessments, in addition to their work to narrow performance disparities between different student groups compared to the state average.

In the most recent Maryland Report Card, Myersville Elementary earned five out of five stars – showing gains in academic achievement and progress. Myersville’s report card score places it in the 99th percentile of elementary schools in the state.

Myersville is the 17th FCPS school to earn Maryland Blue Ribbon Status, National Blue Ribbon Status or both. The other schools that have earned Blue Ribbon status are:
