Frederick County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Cheryl L. Dyson shared her recommended Fiscal Year 2027 operating budget with a commitment to maintaining existing vital programs and services.
Her recommended budget is based on feedback received from the FCPS community, including students, staff, and community members. It takes into account a complex fiscal landscape with rising costs, Blueprint mandates, and local revenue constraints.
The total budget request is $41,976,058, which is $38,165,778 over the FY2026 Frederick County government funding level.
The recommendation is focused on the mandatory costs required to keep FCPS operating – including salaries, benefits, utilities, along with retaining the exceptional staff who support students.
“We are a community of students, staff and families who believe in the power of education to change lives,” Dr. Dyson said. “Even as we navigate fiscal constraints, our belief remains strong. Together, we will continue to serve, to adapt and to ensure that every child in Frederick County has the opportunity to succeed.”
FCPS remains focused on:
- Maintaining high-quality teaching and learning
- Safe and welcoming schools
- Ensuring every student receives the strong academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports needed.
