FCPS Student Activity Funds Coordinator Named 2026 FCPS Support Employee of the Year

FCPS Student Activity Funds Coordinator Susan Barber, known for her steadfast commitment to serving the community, is the 2026 FCPS Overall Support Employee of the Year.
Barber is the lone student activity funds coordinator in FCPS and a pivotal member of the Fiscal Services Department. She supports every school and several Central Office Departments. She has worked for FCPS for 28 years, including two decades as a high school administrative secretary. In her current role, she trains and supports administrative secretaries that helps support managing Student Activity Funds.
Whether it is taking the time to train her peers or supporting extracurricular activities that take place on evenings and weekends, Barber is always ready to provide steadfast support and considerable expertise.
In her nomination packet, Barber was lauded for being dependable, consistent and reliable – all while ready to deliver excellence while being willing to pivot to support anyone who might need her help.
During the FCPS Support Employee of the Year process, eight category winners were selected by a panel. Barber was the Systemic Support Employee of the Year.
The other exemplary employees recognized as category winners were:

- Food Service Support Employee of the Year: Pamela Baer, Yellow Springs Elementary
- Operations Support Employee of the Year: Robert Saxon, Warehouse
- School Support Employee of the Year: Charmane Nesbitt, Catoctin High
- Special Education Support Employee of the Year: Sharnette Anwar, Tuscarora High
- Technical Support Employee of the Year: Brittain Bean, Thurmont Primary/Elementary
- Transportation Support Employee of the Year: Michael Lehman, Transportation
Barber and the other category recipients were recognized at the May 20 Board of Education of Frederick County meeting.
