What are College Preparatory Diploma Programs?

College Preparatory Diploma Programs are for academically competitive students who have achieved the designation of “college and career ready” and wish to attend a highly competitive college, either in the US or abroad. Students take rigorous coursework across core subjects. FCPS offers three College Preparatory Diploma Programs.

Which post CCR College Preparatory Diploma Program is right for you?

Advanced Placement International Diploma (APID)

Designed for the student who may want to study abroad, the APID requires the completion of 5 courses:

  • 2 AP Language courses across two different language areas
  • 1 Global Perspectives course
  • 1 Science or Math/Computer Science course
  • 1 additional course (cannot be another AP language course)
  • Score 3 or higher on all 5 AP exams
  • Successful completion of the APID results in an AP Scholar Award. 

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme

This application-based program is offered at Urbana High School. It requires coursework completion across 6 subject areas and:

  • Theory of Knowledge
  • Extended Essay (score of D or higher)
  • Creativity, Action, and Service project
  • Minimum score of 24 on all 6 IB assessments

Maryland Advanced Placement Option

The Maryland AP Option requires the completion of 5 AP courses:

  • 2 courses in the same subject area
  • 2 subject content areas included
  • Score of 3 or higher on all AP exams
  • Grade of C or higher in all AP courses
  • Successful completion of the MD AP Option results in an AP Scholar Award
