» The Board is proud to honor and recognize the following award recipients:

»» Ms. Lydia Kowalski, literacy specialist at Brunswick High, as the recipient of the 2025 Charles E. Tressler Distinguished Teacher Award.

»» ALonna Soward-Puryea, 4th grade teacher at Monocacy Elementary and a proud FCPS graduate, as the 2025-26 Frederick County Teacher of the Year.

»» Dr. Stephanie Ware, principal at Walkersville High, as a finalist for the 2025 Washington Post Principal of the Year Award.

»» Ms. AnnaClaire Ballard-Ayoub, music teacher at Brunswick Elementary, as a finalist for the 2025 Washington Post Teacher of the Year Award.

»» Rachel White, Substitute Employee of the Year Award

» The BOE approved a grant from MSDE for $63,217 to support teachers seeking National Board Certification (NBC). The BOE also approved an Electric School Bus Grant from the Maryland Energy Administration for $1,801,429 and the Maryland Department of the Environment for $600,000.

» The BOE declared the Gayln Manor property in Brunswick surplus and directed staff to initiate the school site disposition procedures.

» The BOE provided parameters to develop the 2027-28 academic school year calendar options.

» Policy 409, Promotion of Health and Wellness - Students and Policy 119 Communicable Diseases were approved for publication, replacing Policy 420, which was decommissioned. Policy 307, Travel and Mileage Reimbursement and Policy 401, School Calendar were presented for first reading and will return to a future BOE meeting.
