
» The BOE recognized and proclaimed National School Counseling Week, February 2-6, 2026 in FCPS. National School Counseling Week 2026 focuses public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors and highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
» Staff reviewed the secondary transition planning process for students with disabilities beginning at age 14, including how FCPS supports preparation for post-secondary education, employment, and independent living. The presentation emphasized early planning and collaboration among students, families, staff, and community partners.
» Staff presented the Fiscal Year 2027 (FY 2027) Superintendent’s Recommended Operating Budget. (SRB). All documentation regarding the SRB is available on the FCPS website at www.fcps.org/about/budget/fy_2027.
» On January 28th, the BOE will host an afternoon work session from 1:00 - 4:00 pm with the leadership team to review the recommended budget. Also on January 28th, the BOE will host a public hearing regarding the FY2027 SRB at 6pm in the Board Room.
» Policy 400, Systemic Delegation of Duties, completed its first reading; it has been referred back to the Policy Committee for further refinement prior to a second reading by the Board.
» Policy 300, Personnel, was approved for publication.
