Letter from Dr. Theresa R. Alban
Dear Parents and Community Members,
Welcome to Frederick County Public Schools. The district serves more than 40,500 students in 66 schools with an enriching education from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade.
Our students have many opportunities to grow and learn in a safe, nurturing, and academically challenging environment. They are guided and encouraged by caring, well-prepared teachers, specialists, support staff, and administrators who believe in continuous learning for themselves and their students. Students are provided a full array of studies in reading, math, science, social studies, writing, music, art, physical education, world languages and many extracurricular activities.
The FCPS dropout rate is Maryland's lowest. Our students consistently outperform their peers statewide and nationally on multiple measure of academic success. FCPS leads the state that leads the nation in public education – that’s something our community can be truly proud of.
I am confident by continuing to foster partnerships and collaboration across our community, we can ensure that FCPS remains a premier school system in our state and, indeed, our nation. I look forward to working with you in continuing to realize this lofty goal. The children of Frederick County deserve no less.
Dr. Theresa R. Alban
