The Multilingual Education Program promotes successful access to mainstream academic programs for Multilingual (ML) students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 whose first, or primary, language is not English and who have not yet attained English language proficiency. As part of the enrollment process, ML students new to Frederick County are screened for English language proficiency to determine if they qualify for ME Program services.
The ME Program recognizes the vital importance of parental involvement. The Multilingual Education Program offers translation and interpreting services for multilingual families. These services include providing interpreters for parent conferences, other parent meetings, and translations of FCPS documents.
All ML students are able to receive ME Program services in their home school during the school day. Summer-school support is offered as funding permits.
