Frederick County Public Schools Health Metrics Dashboard

Back to TogetherFCPS: Hybrid Return Updates

Frederick County Public Schools provides this data dashboard for families, staff and community members as a summary of student and staff COVID-19 cases broken down by school. We balance transparency about reporting COVID-19 cases to the community with privacy for our staff, students and families. The data dashboard also provides updated county and state metrics via direct links to the official county and state reporting sites.

NOTE:

Classroom/cohort outbreak definition:

  1. At least two confirmed COVID-19 cases among students/teachers/staff within a 14-day period and who are epidemiologically linked, but not household contacts; or

School-wide outbreak definition:

  1. Three or more classrooms or cohorts with cases from separate households that meet the classroom/cohort outbreak definition that occurs within 14 days; or
  2. Five percent or more unrelated students/teachers/staff have confirmed COVID-19 within a 14 day period (minimum of 10 unrelated students/teachers/staff).

The COVID-19 Guidance for Maryland Schools, issued in August 2020 by the Maryland Department of Health and the Maryland State Department of Education, includes Health metrics to guide school reopening discussions.  It shows options that range from "Expanded in-person programs" to "Limited or no in-person programs." The options represent a continuum with no definitive cut point for any decision. The metrics are important factors to consider in making determinations about the operation of school programs; however, there are additional data that must be considered.

FCPS is prioritizing the return of students into classrooms following strict safety protocols and with risk-mitigation strategies in place, including social distancing, face coverings and frequent hand washing.

All decisions about in-person instruction will be made based on metrics, outbreak data, contract tracing data and guidance from the Frederick County Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Superintendent Dr. Terry Alban is in regular contact with both the Frederick County Health Department, led by Health Officer Dr. Barbara Brookmyer, and the Maryland Department of Health.

The health and safety of students and staff is paramount.

Data in this section will be updated daily based on the most recently available information. All data are preliminary and are subject to change based on additional reporting. Data reflects cases and deaths among Frederick County residents only. Hospitalizations shown are for Frederick Health Hospital and reflect all patients who have tested positive for COVID-19. Hospital data is delayed one day.

Data for ZIP codes with 7 or fewer cases are suppressed according to Maryland Department of Health guidelines.

Death data are presented by both date of report and by date of death. Death data are updated as amendments to the death record are received. Change in deaths in the last 24 hours does not mean that the deaths occurred in the last 24 hours, and some reports of deaths may be delayed.
