FCPS Announces Additional Leadership Changes

Frederick County Public Schools announces principal and assistant principal appointments for the 2020-21 school year, in addition to those FCPS announced on May 14.

The following schools will have the principals listed below:

North Frederick Elementary, Tracy Poquette is transferring from Valley Elementary, where she has been principal since the 2017-18 school year. She began her tenure with FCPS in 2006 teaching fifth grade at Twin Ridge Elementary. In 2013 she transferred to Spring Ridge Elementary to work as a math specialist. In 2014 she was promoted to assistant principal at Whittier Elementary and transferred to Hillcrest Elementary in 2016. Ms. Poquette earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Frostburg and master’s degree in educational leadership from Hood College in 2013. Former Principal Kimberly Seiss has accepted a new position as Accountability, Improvement and Innovation Programs supervisor.

Parkway Elementary, Nicole Bell is promoted from assistant principal at North Frederick Elementary, where she has worked since 2019. She began her career with FCPS as an elementary teacher at Hillcrest Elementary. In 2005, she transferred to Centerville Elementary, where she worked as a teacher and later as a math interventionist/school-based math leader. Ms. Bell was promoted to assistant principal at Centerville Elementary in 2013. From 2014 to 2019, she worked as assistant principal at New Midway/Woodsboro Elementary. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary and early childhood education in 2004 from Duquesne University and a Master of Science degree in educational leadership in 2010 from Hood College. Former Principal Stephanie Brown has retired.

Valley Elementary, Jennifer Hyde is promoted from assistant principal at Orchard Grove Elementary, where she has worked since 2017. She began her teaching career in 2001 at Mother Seton Elementary, where she taught first grade from 2001-2003 and then second grade from 2003-2005. In 2005, Ms. Hyde came to FCPS where she worked as an elementary teacher and later as a math leader at Thurmont Elementary. She transferred to North Frederick Elementary in 2012 and was a targeted intervention teacher and then a teacher specialist for English learners. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2002 and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership in 2011. Former Principal Tracy Poquette is transferring to North Frederick Elementary.
           

The following schools will have new assistant principals:

Crestwood Middle, Philip Herdman comes to FCPS from Mt. Hebron High School in Howard County Public Schools
Glade Elementary, Valerie Powell is acting assistant principal from her teaching position at Hillcrest Elementary while Heather Putnam is on leave
North Frederick Elementary, Kelly McConville is transferring from Valley Elementary
Orchard Grove Elementary, Jacqueline Cramer is promoted from literacy specialist at Whittier Elementary
Valley Elementary, Danielle Jacobs is promoted from math specialist at Waverley Elementary

Personnel appointments remain subject to change based on the evolving needs of the school system.
