FCPS Earns Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award

Frederick County Public Schools has earned the National Procurement Institute’s (NPI) Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award. According to the institute, the award recognizes organizations that embrace innovation, professionalism, productivity, leadership and e-Procurement, demonstrating a commitment to organizational improvement and procurement excellence.

“Qualifying for this prestigious award required NPI’s extensive review of FCPS procurement procedures,” says Leslie Pellegrino, the school system’s chief operating officer. “Purchasing Manager Kerrie Koopman and her team work tirelessly to make sure FCPS gets the best value for all of its procured products and services while ensuring compliance of all procurement laws and regulations. They optimize every dollar provided to FCPS,” she adds.

For 2020, FCPS was one of only five agencies in Maryland and one of only 22 school districts in the United States and Canada to receive the award. In addition to the National Procurement Institute, Inc., the award is sponsored by the California Association of Public Procurement Officials, Canadian Public Procurement Council, Florida Association of Public Procurement Officials, National Association of Educational Procurement, National Association of State Procurement Officials, The Institute for Public Procurement and Texas Public Purchasing Association. The award is also supported by the Airport Purchasing Group, OMINA Partners, Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council and the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council.
