Board to hold Public Hearing Wednesday, April 14

The Board of Education of Frederick County will hold a public hearing April 14 from 6-8 p.m. regarding the decision to close Sabillasville Elementary.

Community members are invited to provide in-person public comment at the Board Room, located at 191 South East Street in Frederick. Individuals will be provided with three minutes each and five minutes if speaking on behalf of an organization.

Community members can access the Board room via the entrance on the East Street side of the building. To accommodate social distancing requirements, one speaker at a time will be allowed to enter the Board room. Speakers will be asked to exit after providing comments. Please remember that masks must be worn in the building, including while speaking.

The Board has also set up a designated email address for those who wish to submit written comment about the topic of closing Sabillasville Elementary. Comments can be emailed to SESfeedback@fcps.org and will be accepted through April 16 at 5 p.m. Individuals who would prefer to send video comments can also e-mail them to SESfeedback@fcps.org by April 12 at 5 p.m.

The Board will consider all feedback from both oral and written testimony and render a final decision on the future of Sabillasville Elementary at its meeting on April 21 at 3 p.m.
