Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) and Frederick Health Hospice (FHH) launched a new partnership to support the well-being of all within the school system.

The objective of this new partnership is to assist FCPS students, staff and families adversely affected by serious illness and loss by offering a wide variety of services.

“The children of our community are facing more than their fair share of challenges,” FHH Executive Director Carlos Graveran said. “We are proud and excited about the opportunity to partner with FCPS and contribute our expertise in bereavement and counseling to help them navigate those challenges.”

In support of this new partnership, Frederick Health Hospice offers:

  • Age-appropriate resources to help students, staff and families cope in a crisis
  • Bereavement support groups in collaboration with the appropriate FCPS staff
  • Specialized workshops on grief-related topics for students and staff
  • Individual counseling at the FHH site for up to eight sessions

“We truly appreciate the support and guidance from Frederick Health Hospice in helping us best support our students, families and staff,” FCPS Community Agency School Services (CASS) Coordinator. “Their immediate response to provide resources and services to our families who have experienced grief or loss is invaluable.”

Frederick Health Hospice is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping others live fully. Their mission is to positively impact the well-being of every individual in our community affected by serious illness, grief and loss.
