Young elected Board President, Sue Johnson elected Board Vice President

The Board of Education of Frederick County today unanimously elected Brad M. Young president and Sue Johnson vice president.

Young has served on the Board since December 2010. He is president and CEO of Maryland Financial Planners. He serves on the planned giving committee for Frederick Memorial Hospital and is an adjunct faculty member at Mount St. Mary’s University. Young is a member of Frederick Rotary and also serves on the Board of I Believe in Me.

Johnson has served on the Board since December 2020. She has worked as a systems engineer and consultant for companies, including Andersen Consulting (Accenture), Lotus Development European Corporation, and IBM. Since 1997, she has taught at the college level and has been a full-time professor of Computer and Information Science at Frederick Community College since 1999.

After unanimously electing Board members, the Board thanked past President Jay Mason and past Vice President Karen Yoho for their year of service as Board leaders. They will continue as Board members.

Other BOE members are Liz Barrett, David Bass, and Jason Johnson. The Student Member of the Board is Sam Starrs from Oakdale High School.
