FCPS Honored by National Organization

For the first time ever, Frederick County Public Schools has been recognized as a 2022 Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation.

FCPS is one of 738 school systems across the nation so recognized and one of only nine districts in Maryland to receive the honor. The award certifies the outstanding efforts of teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who make music a part of a well-balanced curriculum.

“I am thrilled about this recognition,” said Kimberly Hirschmann, FCPS Secondary Visual and Performing Arts Curriculum Specialist. “It was a pleasure to reflect on the resilience of our music community and the creativity of our teachers throughout the pandemic and beyond.”

In its 23rd year, the Best Communities for Music Education program has recognized hundreds of school districts and 80 schools across the country. According to the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation, this year's awards program was designed to celebrate schools and districts adapting, innovating and persevering in the face of change.
