Frederick County Public Schools Interim Superintendent Dr. Mike Markoe announced the names of the 2022 School-Based and Central Office Support Employees of the Year at last night’s Board of Education Meeting. They are Joseph Rhodes and Jeff Seymour, respectively.

Tuscarora Elementary School’s Rhodes is this year’s School-based Support Employee of the Year. He is Tuscarora’s lead custodian. He has been with FCPS for 19 years and was nominated by Tuscarora Elementary Principal Carrie Zimmerman.

“Joe is well known in our school community and appreciated by students, staff and parents. He makes sure all students and staff have everything they need each day and often jumps in to assist wherever needed,” Zimmerman said. “Joe is very empathetic and is known to have purchased food, clothing and shoes for students in need.”

Seymour, the Central Office Maintenance Employee of the Year, has worked 10 years for FCPS in security and emergency management as a security technician specialist. He was nominated for the award by his supervisor, Scott Blundell.

“Jeff has a long-standing history of dedication and attention to security for all FCPS facilities,” said Blundell. “While managing the security video management system, Jeff presents a positive attitude and productive work ethic. I often receive compliments about Jeff’s work and his great manner of interacting with others.”

This year, the FCPS Support Employees of the Year program recognized outstanding members of the school system’s support staff in seven broad job categories. Two of the category winners are selected to receive the overall FCPS Central Office and School-Based Support Employee of the Year awards. The two overall winners receive a cash award, a personal day off, special trophy and Board of Education pin.
