Second Annual FCPS All-County High School Dance Festival

Second Annual FCPS All-County High School Dance Festival

Frederick County Public Schools invites the community to the second annual All-County High School Dance Festival on Wednesday, April 27, at 7 p.m. at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School.

The festival will feature dance performances by students from five high schools including Frederick, Gov. Thomas Johnson, Linganore, Tuscarora and Urbana, as well as the FCPS Academy for the Fine Arts. Admission is free.

The evening will conclude with a performance by students whose auditions qualified them for the all-county dance group, representing various local high schools, with choreography by guest artist Kiersten Gasemy. A Frederick native and 2015 graduate of the FCPS Academy for the Fine Arts, Gasemy is honored to choreograph for the All-County Dance Showcase. She is also a graduate of Point Park University and Broadway Dance Center's Professional Semester, where she studied Dance and Musical Theater in both Pittsburgh and New York. Her love of teaching and choreographing started at a young age, along with her love of performing. Recent choreographer credits include “Shrek the Musical,” “Nunsense” and “Peter Pan Junior.”

“Our department is very excited to again showcase this auditioned FCPS all-county dance group,” said Kimberly Hirschmann, FCPS Secondary Visual & Performing Arts curriculum specialist. “We are proud of the school system’s dance teachers’ creativity and collaboration. Please join us in supporting the student dancers at this event.”
