FCPS and FCC Announce Big Change in Dual Enrollment

FCPS and FCC Announce Big Change in Dual Enrollment

Beginning in the spring of 2023, Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) students who participate in Dual Enrollment classes at Frederick Community College (FCC) will no longer have to pay tuition. This includes students currently enrolled.

Due to a recent change in Maryland law, FCPS and FCC will adhere to new guidelines stipulating Dual Enrollment students will not be charged tuition. This includes those in high school based, open campus, career pathways and early college programs.

FCPS and FCC also announce that students who were charged tuition for the fall of 2022 will be fully refunded by the end of November. Students will, however, still be responsible for college fees and textbooks in all programs except those that are high school based.

Today’s announcement came in a joint statement by FCPS Superintendent Dr. Cheryl L. Dyson and FCC President Dr. Annesa Payne Cheek.

Dual Enrollment courses allow students to earn their high school diplomas and college credits simultaneously. FCC offers a variety of Dual Enrollment options in partnership with FCPS. More information about Dual Enrollment is available online.
