FCPS Partners with Wags For Hope

Frederick County Public Schools and a local non-profit organization have entered into an official partnership. Wags for Hope, of Frederick, strives to bring joy into the lives of others by adults volunteering with their canine pals.

Through this partnership, well-trained, certified Wags for Hope dogs will be placed in FCPS programs that provide comfort and caring through a canine-human bond. Wags for Hope volunteers will provide support for students and families who may benefit from specialized learning opportunities, including Learning for Life programs, Expressions programs, Pyramid programs, Rock Creek School and crisis visits. Wags for Hope representatives will also be able to support students who need additional supports, based on school counselor recommendations.

The partnership is intended to create a common sense of purpose by setting mutually agreed upon objectives relative to FCPS’ Strategic Goals. For example, Aspirational Goal 4 calls for FCPS to nurture relationships with families and the entire community,
