Frederick County Public Schools announces several administrative appointments, most of which are effective later this week. Personnel appointments remain subject to change based on the evolving needs of the school system.
Director of Special Education Instruction and Student Performance: Katie Buckley concurrently serves as the Principal at Rock Creek School, helping with the transition until August 28. Ms. Buckley began her career at FCPS and has served the district for more than 16 years. Within the Special Education Department, she has served in many roles, including as the Special Education Instructional Coordinator for elementary/secondary schools and SUCCESS Program Administrator.
Director of Assessment, Data Reporting and Strategic Improvement, Dr. Frank Vetter has been appointed to the post after serving as Principal of the Remote Virtual Program. He began his education career with Howard County Public Schools as a social studies teacher then transferred to FCPS and served as a social studies teacher at Ballenger Creek Middle. Dr. Vetter has also served as a middle school assistant principal and principal throughout his distinguished career.
Principal, Frederick Classical Charter School, Scott Conroy has been appointed after a lengthy career with Howard County Public Schools. He comes to FCPS after serving several years as Principal at Forest Ridge Elementary.
Principal, FCPS Remote Virtual Program, Dr. Christine Samuels previously served as Acting Principal at Frederick Classical Charter School. She began her education career as a math teacher for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System in Tennessee. Dr. Samuels later served as a math teacher with Montgomery County (MD) Public Schools and eventually transferred to FCPS where she served as Assistant Principal at Walkersville and West Frederick middle schools.
The following schools will have new assistant principals:
West Frederick Middle, Alex Reifer is appointed after serving as resident immersion assistant principal at Urbana Middle.
Brunswick High, Laurie Atwell comes to FCPS after serving as an assistant principal in Washington County (MD).
Urbana Middle Resident Immersion, Alethea Stupar is appointed after serving as a reading intervention teacher at Crestwood Middle.
