FCPS Purchasing Department Earns Excellence Award

Achievement of Excellence in Procurement award

The Frederick County Public Schools Purchasing Department earned the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement award from the National Procurement Institute, a nonprofit that serves public procurement professionals internationally.

FCPS is one of seven organizations in Maryland to earn this prestigious award, which recognizes organizations that demonstrate a commitment to innovation, professionalism, productivity, e-procurement and leadership attributes.

“This honor symbolizes the steadfast dedication the FCPS Purchasing Department upholds every day,” FCPS Chief Financial Officer Leslie Pellegrino said. “This great team is focused on supporting all schools and offices.”

The FCPS Purchasing Department obtains the goods and services necessary for students and staff in the most cost-effective and efficient manner. FCPS encourages open competition among vendors through fair negotiation, competitive bidding and contract buying. Bill Meekins is the FCPS Purchasing Manager.
