FCPS Names Executive Director of Systemwide Operations

Dr. Daniel Lippy

Dr. Daniel Lippy, Director of School Management & Charter Schools, has been appointed as Executive Director of Systemwide Operations effective January 1, 2024.

Since 1995, Dr. Lippy has served the students and staff of Frederick County Public Schools as a social studies teacher, assistant principal and principal. As a secondary school administrator, he served as assistant principal at New Market Middle before serving as the principal of New Market Middle, West Frederick Middle and Crestwood Middle. At the high school level, he served as an assistant principal and principal at Governor Thomas Johnson High School. 

FCPS Superintendent Dr. Cheryl L. Dyson announced his appointment to the Board of Education of Frederick County. This position is new to Frederick County Public Schools.

“We are thrilled Dr. Lippy will be serving in this position,” Dyson said. “Dr. Lippy’s wealth of leadership experiences and ability to effectively collaborate will greatly contribute to our district’s operational excellence and advancement.” 

Dr. Lippy is in his 29th year with FCPS. In 2020, he was appointed as the Director of School Management. In this role, he supported all schools and departments within FCPS to improve safety and emergency management, school communication, staffing management, plan new construction and renovation projects, along with collaborating with charter schools.

In addition, for the past 20 years, Dr. Lippy has been an adjunct professor at Mount St. Mary’s University and McDaniel College. 

Dr. Lippy is a proud FCPS graduate, Frederick High School class of ‘89. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Maryland, College Park and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Western Maryland College. In 2011, he obtained his Doctorate of Education in Administrative Leadership for Teaching and Learning from Walden University.
