Frederick County Public Schools is accepting nominations for the Charles E. Tressler Distinguished Teacher Award.

Hood College presents this recognition annually to celebrate distinguished teaching in the Frederick County public school system. This award is named in honor of Tressler, a former Hood College faculty member who encouraged young people to enter the teaching profession. The award was established by a gift from the late Samuel Eig, of Gaithersburg.

A panel of FCPS judges will screen the nominations and select finalists before forwarding materials to Hood College. We welcome nominations from current and former students, teachers and support staff, parents, community members, administrators, and supervisors.

Hood College will recognize the winner this spring. Nominations are due Friday, March 15.

Additionally, the deadline is nearing for 2024 FCPS Support Employee of the Year award nominations, which are due Friday, January 26.

Nomination eligibility, criteria, and process information for both the Tressler award and the Support Employee of the Year awards are posted at www.fcps.org/awards/.
