5th Grade All-County Honors Chorus to Perform

The 37th annual FCPS 5th Grade All-County Honors Chorus Concert

The 37th annual FCPS 5th Grade All-County Honors Chorus Concert makes the Weinberg Center for the Arts the place to be on Wednesday, May 1, at 7 p.m.

Each elementary school is allotted a limited number of Honors Chorus student positions based on 5th grade enrollment numbers at their school.

This year’s guest conductor is Julie Culotta, and accompanists are Green Valley Elementary music teacher Amy Deavers and Valley Elementary music teacher Jessica Blood. Culotta is the founding artistic director for the Deer Creek Youth Choir, a community choral organization for young singers in Harford and Baltimore counties.

“It’s remarkable to watch 120 of our finest young vocalists arrive from across Frederick County, never having met, to rehearse and perform within 36 hours,” FCPS Elementary Visual & Performing Arts Curriculum Specialist Susan Thomas said. “Our students’ voices are a powerful inspiration to lift the audience’s spirits. As always, we expect the house to be packed with proud families and friends of the arts.

Tickets for this 37th annual concert will be available at the Weinberg Center’s box office for purchase before the concert. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students. All students singing in this year’s Honors Chorus will receive two free admission parent vouchers.

FCPS employees with a badge and children under 4 years of age will also be allowed free admission. Ticket sale proceeds help support the FCPS Elementary Visual & Performing Arts programs.

The Weinberg Center will also offer on-line general seating ticket sales in advance with a $5 booking fee and an additional fee of $1.75 per ticket that benefits the Weinberg Center for the Arts.
