Valley Elementary groundbreaking ceremony

Frederick, MD (April 30, 2024) – At Valley Elementary, the school motto says students are on a voyage of excellence and success. During the 2025-26 school year, Valley students will continue that educational voyage in a new school building.

Frederick County Public Schools held a groundbreaking ceremony for a replacement school building to be built in a field adjacent to the existing Valley building off Jefferson Pike.

The original Valley Elementary was built in 1967 with no significant renovations in 50 years.

The new Valley Elementary has a state rated capacity of 745 students and will have three playgrounds, TV monitors in each classroom, and a parks and recreation area for county programs. It will also have wall-to-wall Wi-Fi, a cafeteria that opens into a gym and a bus parking lot on site.

GWWO Architects created the design for the building. Construction management is by Dustin Construction Management.

Valley Elementary students William Fulton, Hezekiah Thomas, Ava Walker, and Kimberley Juarez, who will all attend the new school, took part in the groundbreaking. They were joined by elected officials, FCPS leaders, and members of the Valley community.
