FCPS Has Ribbon Cutting for New STEM Center at Carroll Manor Elementary

Frederick, MD – Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS), is proud to announce the launch of the new Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation STEM Center at Carroll Manor Elementary with the collaboration of Rowan Digital Infrastructure.

The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation STEM Center gives students a chance to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics activities in a dynamic and interactive environment. Last year, Tuscarora Elementary and Whittier Elementary unveiled new STEM Centers.

The new center will feature STEM equipment at student workstations, providing students with opportunities to explore activities that encourage creativity, teamwork, and practical problem-solving.

“This will be a wonderful opportunity for students to engage in STEM activities,” FCPS Superintendent Dr. Cheryl L. Dyson said. “We are appreciative of this opportunity to inspire students from an early age.”

The official opening of the STEM Center was held Monday morning, culminating in an official ribbon cutting ceremony.

“We are honored to partner with Frederick County Public Schools to provide students with this exciting new STEM learning space,” said Martin Romo, senior director of economic development and external affairs at Rowan. “At Rowan, we are committed not only to advancing digital infrastructure but also to strengthening communities across Frederick County by investing in the workforce of tomorrow.”

The new STEM Center aligns with Rowan’s mission to invest in education and foster long-term community partnerships throughout Frederick County.
