Frederick County Public Schools is proud to announce that 33 FCPS students have been named 2025 Carson Scholars.
The Carson Scholars Fund is a program founded by Dr. Ben Carson in 1994. The program works to honor students in grades 4-11 who maintain a 3.75 GPA, demonstrate exceptional academic achievements, and embody noteworthy humanitarian qualities.
Carson Scholars advocate for change, and are active contributors to their community. The Carson Scholars fund will host their regional 29th annual Maryland Carson Scholars Awards Ceremony this May, celebrating both incoming and returning scholars. This year marks the largest cohort of Carson Scholars.
Thirteen FCPS students are being inaugurated as Carson Scholars for the first time, while the remaining 20 have renewed their status as Carson Scholars. First-time scholars will be awarded a 1,000 college scholarship, an Olympic-sized medal, along with a certificate. FCPS Carson Scholars represent a variety of schools and a wide range of grades.
