The community is invited to a redistricting study meeting for the Crestwood area in anticipation of a planned addition to Crestwood Middle School that will add 318 seats.

FCPS is seeking public input at a meeting being held on Monday, April 3, at 6:30 p.m. at Crestwood Middle and will be open to anyone who has an interest in the proposed redistricting. Spanish and American Sign Language interpreters will be available.

FCPS is seeking to balance enrollments across five middle school by considering the additional seats being added at Crestwood Middle and focusing on current and projected enrollments at those schools. The corresponding elementary and high school attendance areas may also be adjusted to streamline feeder patterns.

In addition to Crestwood Middle, the middle school attendance areas included in this study are Ballenger Creek, Gov. Thomas Johnson west of the Monocacy River, Monocacy and West Frederick.

The elementary attendance areas included in the study are Ballenger Creek, Butterfly Ridge, Carroll Manor, Hillcrest, Lewistown, Lincoln, Monocacy, North Frederick, Orchard Grove, Parkway, Spring Ridge west of the Monocacy River, Tuscarora, Waverley, Whittier and Yellow Springs.

The high school attendance areas included in the study are: Frederick, Gov. Thomas Johnson west of the Monocacy River and Tuscarora.

The new attendance boundaries are set to go into effect at the beginning of the 2024-25 school year. This study is scheduled to be completed in September of 2023, which will allow time for implementation, preparation for staffing changes and updates to 2024-25 bus routes.

The community is encouraged to visit the Crestwood Redistricting Study project web page for redistricting study updates, a calendar of events and a video recording of the community presentation.
