Middle School Visual and Performing Arts
Through the study of art, music and drama, students plan and craft artistic products or performances that reflect their individuality. Students are also encouraged to try new combinations of tools, resources, techniques and approaches.
The middle school visual and performing arts program offers:
- Visual arts classes, where students develop fundamental drawing, painting, printmaking, graphics and sculpture skills.
- Opportunities for students to display their work at local and state shows such as the Youth Art Month Show in March.
- Band, orchestra and chorus, in which students participate in school programs and music festivals.
- Music Performance Lab to explore a variety of experiences in world music and modern technologies.
All FCPS fine arts courses utilize the National Core Arts and Maryland Fine Arts Standards, which incorporate four artistic processes:
- Create
- Perform/Present/Produce
- Respond
- Connect
