Computer Donations

Frederick County Public Schools welcomes donations from individuals, organizations, and corporations if their donation enhances the educational or extracurricular experiences of students. However, donations must include a review of items to ensure their safety and usability by the school system. Accepted donations will be utilized in a manner that is consistent with the goals of Frederick County Public Schools.

If the donation includes computer equipment and/or peripherals, Technology Infrastructure must be consulted prior to acceptance. Computer equipment must meet minimum specifications, as noted below.

2024-25 Donated Computer Minimum Specifications

For 2024-2025, the minimum FCPS donated computer specifications are:

  • Processor: Intel Core i5 (8th generation) or AMD Ryzen 5 (3rd generation)
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Storage: 256 GB SSD or 1 TB HDD
  • Graphics: Integrated graphics (Intel UHD or AMD Radeon Graphics)
  • Operating System: Windows 11
  • Network: Laptops must include 802.11n or higher Wi-Fi capability and desktops must include 1 GB or higher Ethernet.
  • Ports: USB 3.0 or higher, HDMI and/or Display port, and audio jacks

These specifications should support basic productivity tasks, web browsing, and moderate media consumption. Adjustments might be made based on specific use cases or software requirements.
