Walk and Bike to School Days
National Program
Walk to School Day and Bike to School Day events are celebrated at schools around the world each year to encourage healthy lifestyles and promote safe routes for children to get to school. Schools often have lessons on pedestrian and bicycle safety in the days leading up to the event. Students and their families are encouraged to use an active form of transportation on the designated day and typically there is a celebration before or after school hosted by teachers, parents, or community groups. Each school has its own particular program. FCPS Programs
Every year several FCPS schools participate in Walk to School Day (October) and Bike to School Day (May). The following video highlights Bike to School Day activities at Ballenger Creek Elementary, Hillcrest Elementary, Glade Elementary, Parkway Elementary and Waverley Elementary in May 2017:

Walk to School Day - Wednesday, October 4, 2017
National Walk to School Day is Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Several FCPS schools will participate:
- Ballenger Creek Elementary
- Glade Elementary
- Myersville Elementary
- New Market Elementary
- Parkway Elementary - event will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 (rain date Monday, October 16, 2017)

Bike Month - May 2018
National Bike to School Day is Wednesday, May 9, 2018, but we'll be celebrating all month long at FCPS!
