Home and Hospital Teaching (HHT)
See our Resources page for a important video for parents considering applying for Home and Hospital Teaching for anxiety based conditions negatively impacting their child’s school attendance.
Home and Hospital Teaching (HHT) services are available through the Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) Department of Student Services for students who are unable to attend school due to a physical or emotional health condition as verified by a qualified treating medical professional. HHT services are primarily provided virtually with individually assigned HHT teachers or arranged through an approved online educational program. There is very limited availability for HHT services to be provided in person at the student’s home or public setting (i.e., public library); these requests are considered on a case by case basis and depends upon teacher availability. HHT services are intended to be short-term during a time of convalescence or treatment. There are separate HHT applications depending upon if the condition is physical or emotional. The appropriate application may be obtained from the Pupil Personnel Worker (PPW) assigned to the student’s school. For more information, see FCPS Regulation 400-37.
