2nd Semester Review

The purpose of a review is for families to report on the required topics of study (Language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, art, music, physical education and electives), curriculum, online programs, course selections and other pertinent information describing what your child is/has/will be completing through the course of each semester.

REVIEW DUE DATE:  May 8, 2025

All review materials must be received by May 8, 2025. We strongly recommend that you submit your review materials anytime, and as soon as possible, before May 8, 2025.  All review materials should be emailed to homeinstruction@fcps.org with the student’s full name in the subject line.

Portfolio Options

1. Google Portfolio Form: To access the Google form click on this link (Access the Google form here). The form can be accessed by computer or cell phone. Your use of this form will automatically send a copy to homeinstruction@fcps.org with your student’s name in the subject line.

2. Portfolio Summary Review Form: Email or mail a completed Portfolio Summary Review Form. Click on this link to access the form Second Semester Portfolio Summary Review and Learning Plan Form.   

3. Transcripts/Grade Reports: Email a copy of a transcript or grade/progress report received from the organization/college/program/ co-op (i.e., Acellus, Time4Learning, Abeka, Penn Foster, etc.) your child is working with. The transcript must show classes enrolled in during the current semester along with progress made in each class.

4. Digital Portfolio: Email or mail 2 samples of relevant materials for each required subject. Please make sure all subjects are included.To see a sample, go to Sample digital portfolio. Please condense your work samples into no more than 2 emails. 

5. GED: Submit review materials (name of GED program/book, etc.) that your child is using to prepare for the GED. It is required to send evidence of work for all subjects and the information can be submitted using Option 1 or 2 above. 

6. Library Reviews: A Home Instruction Monitor will be available at the following Frederick County Libraries on the dates listed below (times varies per location. Reviews will be by appointment only. Use SignUpGenius to select your time slot (one slot per student). The sign-up list will close on Wednesday, April 23, 2025

Please note, monitors will not be in attendance if no appointments have been scheduled.

  • Monday April 28, 2025: Urbana Library (Maribel) and Middletown Library (Dan)
  • Tuesday April 29, 2025: C. Burr Artz Library (2 monitors available- Maribel & Dan) 
  • Wednesday April 30, 2025: Thurmont Library (Dan) and Walkersville Library (Maribel)

If none of the options above work for your family, please contact the Home Instruction Office at homeinstruction@fcps.org as soon as possible. 

After you have submitted your review materials, you will receive a confirmation of completion from our office and then be removed from subsequent Review Reminder emails for semester two.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I HAVE SUBMITTED MY REVIEW MATERIALS?

You will receive a response from our office and be removed from subsequent Review Reminder emails which will be sent in the future.

>WHAT IF I HAVE NOT COMPLIED WITH THE REVIEW REQUIREMENT?

Families that have not complied by this review due date will be notified of their non-compliance status and will be referred to the Pupil Personnel Worker assigned to their child's school.
